Man Diesels PME Group

Insignia Creative helps the PME Group grow up

From having ten employees two years ago, marine engineering company PME Group has now expanded to employing 16 staff with 35 per cent growth last year and a predicted further 30 per cent growth in 2015.

And the growth has been put down to marketing help received from Torquay’ s Insignia Creative which has also helped the PME Group launch a new business, PME Energies selling CHP bio digesters.

Run by Peter and Jade Chalk, the PME Group specialises in providing servicing, repairs and spare parts to MAN diesel engines, primarily for the marine industry. “It’s very much a good news story,” said Jade. “Last year we were voted the best marine employer to work for in the UK.

“We moved to larger premises 18 months ago and rebranded, work which Insignia Creative and director Richard Netherclift in particular had a large part to play.” She added: “We’re a very fluid, go getty type company and need someone to respond intelligently to our business which Insignia
definitely does.

“We launched PME Energies and needed a new stand, logos, branding and leaflets. We threw that at Richard and he came up trumps with what he did for us within the very short lead-time we gave him.
“Three weeks before the company launch, there wasn’t even a company name.” And she explained how there is now a monthly contract for Insignia Creative to look after the company’s marketing including website updates, advertising, leaflets and advice on social media.

“Richard talked us through social media and how to make it work for us as a small business and we’re now running successful Facebook and Twitter campaigns,” explained Jade. She added: “About 18 months ago we did go through what I term an amicable divorce and met with various local marketing companies but decided to go back to Richard. “Since then he’s come up trumps with everything we’ve thrown at him, hitting deadlines and being creative. I only have positive things to say about him. He’s helped us grow up.”

The latest project the two companies are working on is an advertising campaign showing the PME Group as an approachable and friendly company whilst still being professional. “We’re showing the human side of the business by showcasing a different member of staff on each advert,” explained Richard. “We’ve sat down and worked out which publications the company should advertise in.” He added: “We work with Jade and Peter on all aspects of their marketing. We are currently working on the company’s website to bring it up to date and helped the group with its rebranding and
new logo.

“Our regular meetings have helped put PME’s marketing on a better footing.”
